Short History of Hollywood
When you are looking for a hotel in Hollywood, be sure to know the history of everywhere you go. The area now known as Hollywood has been discovered by Spanish explorers who encountered Native American tribes around the Santa Monica Mountains. The tribes were moved to missions and the Spanish government has divided the country into two: Rancho La Brea and Rancho Los Feliz.
During the 1870s the region became a prosperous agricultural region of various crops produced by the community. After the farms are subdivided into small colonies in the 1880s, an area was purchased by HH Wilcox, who became the founder of Hollywood we know today. His wife gave the name “Hollywood” in the place. Wilcox has actively promoted the community to sell the residential lots to wealthy buyers looking for a place to spend the winter in the warm California sun.
The community grew rapidly with houses of the rich, but its independence is not long. Due to the lack of water, the community has decided to be part of Los Angeles, with its abundance of water. Thus, from 1903, Hollywood is a district of Greater Los Angeles.
The first film studio was established in 1911 when the company bought an old tavern Nestor. The mild climate and abundance of green space have made this very attractive for the burgeoning film industry and soon a series of studies and groups have emerged in Hollywood. The city is facing a large influx of residents and money, with many clubs, restaurants, banks, offices and buildings to serve the film industry.
This rapid growth has led to a clash between old and new residents of the city, with agricultural land used for construction. This is an area a few years ago had become a large office building. The urbanization of the city and its unique cultural context has led to a very original mix of architectural styles that is today: the Art Deco and Spanish colonial everything in between.
Hollywood has seen many changes during its history and remains a very active environment. Today you can find all the businesses in the city. After studying many trips outside the area and many famous – in Beverly Hills, many record labels and Hollywood studios have their place of residence. And certainly not the last change will be in the history of Hollywood.
